GOD WANTS TO PROSPER YOU!
Prosperity goes beyond us; it impacts the people around us in our family & community.
It means to flourish. It is the ongoing state of success in all areas of life, living in Gods will & purpose for your life.
Money...It can be such a big issue in our lives. The world sees the lack of money as the cause of all their problems and having more money as the answer. Whether you have a lot of money at the moment, or just a little, as a Christian it is important to understand what God thinks about money and finance.
When God saved you, He also adopted you into His family. He is your Father and like any great father, He wants to provide for you and look after you, and also to bless you in every area.
In this study, we will learn about the principles that God has put into place to ensure that you are indeed prosperous and blessed, and how to have a healthy attitude towards money and giving.
1 TIMOTHY 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Is money evil?
Money is not evil. You can do a lot for God with money! It is the LOVE of money that often leads people into trouble and to even wander away from God. You do not have to be rich for this to happen. Many people let the LACK of money lead them to make bad choices and decisions in their lives.
PROVERBS 28:13
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
1. SOWING AND REAPING
GENESIS 8:22
As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.
Like night and day, and the changing of the seasons, there are certain natural laws on earth that God has put in place which never change. One of these if the law of sowing and reaping (what you sow, you will reap).
GALATIANS 6:7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
If you were starting a new garden, and you planted some apple seeds, what do you expect to reap?
Apple trees, of course! Very simple isnt it!
If you were starting a new garden and you did everything right to prepare the soil and you watered it each day but didnt plant any seeds, what would you expect to reap?
Nothing! You cannot reap what you havent sown!
What is sowing?
Sowing is the act of giving. It is making an investment in your future.
What is reaping?
Reaping is gathering, things coming or being added to you. If you are sowing, reaping is a certainty, it is guaranteed.
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
The more you _______ the more you _______.
2. GIVING IS A FORM OF WORSHIP TO GOD!
LUKE 21:1-4
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. Truly I tell you, he said, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.
The most important thing when giving a gift is our attitude. It doesnt matter what the gift is, if it is given with a heart of love and wanting to bless that person it will touch the receivers heart! It is the same when we give to God!
2 CORINTHIANS 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
3. WHAT IS TITHING?
MALACHI 3:8-11
Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.
But you ask, How are we robbing you?
In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse your whole nation because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe, says the Lord Almighty.
TITHE = a tenth of your personal income set apart as an offering to God.
Some people don't like it when people talk about giving every week in church, yet Jesus talked about money all the time. Why? Because He knew so many of us have a wrong attitude about giving. When money has a hold on your heart, you feel uncomfortable when people start talking about giving.
All we have comes from God and belongs to God. He has instructed us to give a small part back to Him as a way of acknowledging Him as our ultimate provider, and also as a practical way of putting our trust in Him.
MALACHI 3:10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
The only time that God asks us to test Him is in the area of tithing. Why dont you take Him up on His offer and see what happens in your life?
If we are faithful when giving to God, He will bless us abundantly, above all of our expectations.
All we have comes from God and belongs to God. He has instructed us to give a small part back to Him (10%) as a way of acknowledging Him as our ultimate provider, and also as a practical way of putting our trust in Him.
LUKE 20:22-25
Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?
He saw through their duplicity and said to them, Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?
Caesars, they replied.
He said to them, Then give back to Caesar what is Caesars, and to God what is Gods.
God is powerful & personal. God has plans for you to prosper, but we have a part to play in that.
